a thesaurus

I don't fancy myself a writer, but I do enjoy writing. And I love reading. Whenever I am reading a book and the author has used the same obscure word a few times within the text it totally bothers me. Even the use of a normal word a couple of times on the same page is a pet peeve of mine. In order to avoid being a hypocrite, on any occasion that I am updating my blog or adding to my book, I have my Thesaurus open. Right now, as a matter of fact, I realized I had used "whenever" already so the thesaurus prompted me to use "on any occasion" in its place. On the off chance that I must relocate, under duress, to a deserted island, bringing with me a few valuables, a thesaurus would be among them.
