I, Miss America

While lying on the couch in a fever induced stupor I watched waaay too much TV. During one episode of "While You Were Out" (TLC reality show), scenes were shown of a family enjoying the day at our favorite Gilroy, CA haunt, Bonfante Gardens. Bonfante Gardens is a primo family experience combining horticulture  and amusement park rides. Trust me, it works.

Seeing this footage completely bummed me out. Most of the time we keep any homesickness at bay, there are twinges here and there, but our home is here and our lives are here and it feels good. But, I have to say that right now, I miss America. I miss family (alot), I mourn the fact that I never got to hold my new niece as a small baby, I miss speaking English, understanding and being understood, I miss the ease with which we can do things (red tape was invented here in CZ),  I miss church.
Sigh...

Last night I skyped my parents to wish my dad a happy birthday. We were talking about when we would be able to see them again and I said out loud what I had been thinking about for a few months, that the next time we will see them is probably when we move back to the US. Saying things out loud kinda makes them real.
Sigh...
