Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
Psalm 119:105
This season of advent has reminded me how desperately we need God's word hidden in our hearts. Man's wisdom and the conjurings of our own brain are sorely inadequate and leave us wanting, starving and ill-prepared for this life. Have you ever felt as I do that a battle is raging, daily. My mind and spirit are being wooed, courted, vied for, called out to, by numerous things, people and temptations, daily. Often, due to fatigue, I battle no further and give in to their siren's call. God also calls to us, His word is alive and powerful and speaks to us. The girls and I have been memorizing scripture together each week. Shoring up our spirits, feeding them good food so that we may have strength to fight on another day.
Joshua 1:9
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.
1 Peter 4:11
Anyone who speaks should speak words from God. Anyone who serves should serve with the strength God gives so that in everything God will be praised through Jesus Christ. Power and glory belong to him forever and ever. Amen.
Isaiah 9:2,6
The people walking in darkness
have seen a great light;
on those living in the land of deep darkness
a light has dawned.
have seen a great light;
on those living in the land of deep darkness
a light has dawned.
For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
