crossroads

crossroads

We are a few days away from our 5th anniversary in the Czech Republic. We are a couple of weeks away from deciding whether there will be a 6th anniversary here.

Each year we wonder how many more God has in store for us.

Really, it is like a tapestry woven row by row, the design never fully revealed, yet breathtaking all the same.

Some aspects of our decision are out of our control:
Danny's father's health
Finances

Some are symptoms of living far away from home:
Missing family
Feeling like no culture is your own

Some muddy the waters horribly:
Missing family...oh so much!
Loving life here in our tiny town
Still feeling stupid when speaking Czech
Our Bible Study gang...we love our friends
Feeling like we aren't making a difference, then, suddenly, feeling like we are...
Loving my job, then finding out it will change next year...deal breaker?

Some are borne from our own desires:
I want to go back to school
Dan wants to make sure the job market is secure in the States
There are still so many places we haven't been to here in Europe and abroad that are much easier to get to from our current location
I want to go back to church where there is a good youth group for the kids
Townshend is such a good school for the girls
Our Bible study is growing
I want to have coffee with my dad and hug my mum
I want my girls to know their family
I want to be there for my sister

Some have develpoed from fear and lack of faith:
Where will we live?
Where will we work?
How can we survive when we will come home with nothing?
These keep us up at night...

Right now, we are praying for God to release us from our own desires and plans. We are here because of Him and thanks to Him who reigns on high. Our loyalty is to the Almighty and our hearts yearn to follow Him where he leads.
