countdown to summer: 13 days
My kids can't decide if I am like the coolest ever camp director or if I am psycho-controlling mom-monster...maybe a bit of both. I went for a long hike yesterday and came home with the "summer schedule". My platform this summer is "Boredom Will Not Be Tolerated" (nor will complaining, but that is for tomorrow's post)
Camp Coyan Super Awesome Summer Schedule Against Boredom (a.k.a. CCSASSAB)
8:00 reveille
8:30 semi-nutritious breakfast and devotions (nutrition level of devotions only somewhat suspect)
9:00 cabin inspection
9:30 depart for "nature hike" (I have heard "Bataan" muttered only very rarely)
10:00 arrive at local swimming pool for 3 hours of vigorous exercise while camp counselor works on her tan
11:30 poolside lunch consisting of mystery meat hotdog in a bread sleeve thing
1:00 begin walk back to "camp" via forest
1:30-2:00 foreign language tutoring
Languages: French
Japanese
Esperanto
Heratic
2:00-3:00 multiple subject activities: Math, US History, US Geography, English and Science
3:00-5:00 freetime and gardening (weeding and digging doled out as behaviour modification devices)
5:00-6:00 board game or craft elective
6:00 dinner made by team of culinary artists (Dan)
7:00-8:00 camp counselor evening stroll in forest used primarily as a debriefing meeting
8:00-9:30 evening diversions: stargazing, video games, reading, laying on couch, jumping loudly on trampoline until neighbors wished we would just go back to America already, garage disco complete with karaoke.
For a free camp, Camp Coyan doesn't seem so bad. We will see once the evaluation forms are in at the end of August.
Wow! Sounds really great - wish I was going to Camp Coyan.
