We are now the proud owners of two gorgeous walking stick insects appropriately named Scorpio and Mr. Bean. Mr. Bean is very friendly and likes to crawl all over us. Scorpio is moody and kind of grumpy so he stays in his cage and we just annoy him by looking at him. He gets mad and makes a face at us. Roxie does a really great impression of him. I will try to post a picture of it. He also jiggles his body back and forth menacingly which is creepy. We have created a nice habitat in their cage using bark and moss from the forest. They eat raspberry bramble but prefer blackberry bramble which is awesome as it grows wild in the forest behind our house. We have to spray the cage every day to keep the bugs moist (moist bugs...yum!) Roxie has wanted stick insects for over a year now so we went to the shop on Saturday and let her get them. They are very cheap and feeding them and housing them is free so we are pleased. If only Scorpio wouldn't look at me that way. He should come with his own scary music soundtrack.
