day 8
Do what your king commands; you gave a sacred oath of obedience. Don’t worryingly second-guess your orders or try to back out when the task is unpleasant. You’re serving his pleasure, not yours. The king has the last word. Who dares say to him, “What are you doing?” Carrying out orders won’t hurt you a bit; the wise person obeys promptly and accurately.
Ecclesiastes 8:2-7
Sit at my feet. Be still. Don’t worry. Follow me. The plans I have for you are good. Say these words. Be with me. The work will wait. Ask me. Trust me. Believe in me. Rest. Give me your burden. Obey my commandments. Love your neighbour. Love me. Love.
I hear these commands from my King every day. Why I second guess the Creator of the universe is beyond me. Perhaps I am really only second guessing myself. Do I hear the commands correctly? All I need do is look in His word and they are there plain as day. It all comes back to the fact that I am not here for my self or my own pleasure. I am here at the King’s behest and He is a righteous King whose orders are magnificent. He is weaving a tapestry from our lives of the richest colours and fabrics. The masterpiece is not yet completed, but His promise is to finish it and that it will blow our mind.
