outside my window...a royal blue sky as darkness approaches. A huge orb of moon hanging close enough to touch. Ice on every surface as it is 12 below zero. A few snowflakes falling and resting at odd angles as they collide with each other on the surfaces on which they fall.
I'm listening to...children quietly reading and drawing in separate rooms. Homework time.
I'm wearing...Hello Kitty pyjamas. Fuzzy socks and a hooded sweatshirt. Not very attractive, but comfy and warm after a day's work.
I'm pondering... 34 Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. 35 One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: 36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”
37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” Matthew 22:34-40
I am reading...(re-reading) "Under the Dome" by Stephen King. Good book, amazing, long story...crummy ending (in my estimation) but still worth the read.

from the kitchen...mochas, hot chocolates and teas with honey. Good for the soul on a cold day in the dead of gray winter.
I am creating...The post office is a big hit. My kids love making the cards, addressing them, stamping them and then donning Postman gear and sorting them into the mailboxes.
towards rhythm and beauty...the girls and I have spent some time looking at our priorities and listing out the ones we would like to have, the ones our lives should reflect. Then we talked about what needs to change in our lives for these new priorities to take hold. Our prayer for the next couple of weeks is asking what God wants us to change or give up during Lent to draw us nearer to Him.
Our memory verse this week...
Jesus replied: "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' Matthew 22:37-39
I am hoping...for wisdom in parenting.
I am praying...for the strength to change. Lent is coming, the time of Bright Sadness. A time to feel the heaviness of our human condition and long to be forever changed.
around the house...no heat...YAY we have heat, but now we don't have hot water at night. I have no idea why. And our dishwasher broke and both handles broke off of our fridge. What a strange month.
one of my favourite things...laying in bed with freshly washed kids in robes reading the Chronicles of Narnia together. We are currently reading the last book. After this one we begin the Little House on the Prairie series.
a few plans for the rest of the week...finally getting my hair coloured so that my roots don't make me look like a troll, prayer and worship group on Friday night, Saturday to bum around with my family, my friend, Anna, coming over on Sunday.
a picture thought... Rebekah and Roxie acting out a scene from Macbeth for their schoolmates
Macbeth
Act 4 Scene 2
Messenger
Bless you, fair dame! I am not to you known,
Though in your state of honour I am perfect.
I doubt some danger does approach you nearly:
If you will take a homely man's advice,
Be not found here; hence, with your little ones.
To fright you thus, methinks, I am too savage;
To do worse to you were fell cruelty,
Which is too nigh your person. Heaven preserve you!
I dare abide no longer.
Exit
LADY MACDUFF
Whither should I fly?
I have done no harm. But I remember now
I am in this earthly world; where to do harm
Is often laudable, to do good sometime
Accounted dangerous folly: why then, alas,
Do I put up that womanly defence,
To say I have done no harm?
Enter Murderers
What are these faces?
First Murderer
Where is your husband?
LADY MACDUFF
I hope, in no place so unsanctified
Where such as thou mayst find him.
First Murderer
He's a traitor.
Son
Thou liest, thou shag-hair'd villain!
First Murderer
What, you egg!
Stabbing him
Young fry of treachery!
Son
He has kill'd me, mother:
Run away, I pray you!
Dies
