spring break

off to Italy

In less than two hours we will be heading off to Verona and Venice. We have never been to Italy before nor ever thought we would be able to go. For the last 4 years our friend, Zdeněk, has been bugging us to go to Italy with him. He is a Czech who works as an Italian translator and spends a lot of time in Italy and also used to live there. We finally caved this time around when he invited us to come along with him and our other friend, Martin. So the guys will pick us up at 9am this morning and we will drive 6 hours to Trento, stay the night and then on to Verona and then Venice. We will be gone a total of 5 days. The weather should be perfect, in the 70's. I am looking forward to museums, architecture, Italian food and coffee.
The beauty of this trip is how cheap it is. Martin and Zdeněk travel all over the world together and they know how to do it very inexpensively. Right now is our spring break (we have almost 3 weeks off) and we thought that if we don't take them up on their offer now we may never get to see Italy. Being here in CZ affords us the opportunity  to go all over Europe cheaply as we are so centrally located. For us it is a matter of having the time and the money. When Zdeněk told us how cheap it was and the girls have a place to stay while we are gone we thought we should just go for it. Since we have moved to CZ we have not had a getaway without the girls...that's 4 years. Rebekah and Roxie are stoked because our friend, Eleanor, is staying with them at our house for a couple of nights and then they are going to their friends' house at the International school to stay the rest of the time. They are super looking forward to it. It seems like a win-win for all of us. I will post as I can while we are there and then next week post alot about our trip.
