news flash

braces

An hour long drive in the snow to the border of Austria, a small town called Nové Hrady, where practices the only orthodontist that would take "the foreigners".

A year and a half in the making. Calls made, requests denied, and then, finally, success.

Preparations made long in advance, x-rays, teeth pulled, consultations.

A day prior, separators put in, ouch! Only smushy food now, thanks!

An hour and a half in the orthodontist's chair, while snow softly falls, and my girl comes out looking a right proper teenager.

Applesauce, yogurt and icecream on the menu.

On the calendar, a once-a month trip to this town on the border for tightening of the metal on her teeth.

Many heartfelt thanks to those of you who gave and sacrificed so Rebekah could have straight teeth. You know who you are and we are grateful to you.

Another amazing example of your patience with the process -- so much preparation and waiting before something long-awaited finally happens!

We are glad for Rebekkah -- she will be glad LATER for the braces. They are more important than we realized until we were much older. Mike, who had braces in school, wished he could have had them again in his 40's or 50's because his teeth moved . . . but alas, they would be too much in the way of preaching, so he went without. Hang in there, Rebekkah!
    Love, Susie and Mike
